Worcester Music Festival is thrilled to announce that it will return for 2022 after being unable to go ahead for two years due to the pandemic.
The festival, taking place between 16th – 18th of September, is an annual charity event hosted in venues across Worcester. Each year, the event welcomes thousands of visitors who flock to the city to enjoy incredible artists while supporting the local community.
After being unable to support them in 2020, Worcester Community Trust will be this year’s chosen cause. The charity runs ten different projects across the city while managing six community hubs, providing support to the local communities within the city by enhancing skills, increasing confidence, and bringing people together.
With the announcement of the festival’s return comes the opening of their band applications, where artists spanning every genre are invited to donate their time to help bring the city’s music scene together, all in aid of a great cause. Those interested can access the application form via the festival’s website.
Local promoters will be given charge of a night in one of the 20 plus venues located in the city centre, handpicking a line-up from the artists applying. The authentic crafting of the bill has always proven a success, the incredibly high quality of the musicians taking the stage drawing large crowds of both music fans and passers-by.
In past years, organisers have expanded the line-up to include comedy, spoken word, art and interactive workshops aimed at the whole family. Throughout the weekend, the festival will host around 250 performances while attracting visitors from across the UK and even further afield, with some visitors having travelled from the likes of Italy, Australia, and USA in past years.
Festival director Anthony Robbins said:
“Over the past two years, our volunteers, artists, venues and gig-goers have sorely missed the festival, so we are thrilled to be finally returning.
“We can’t wait to bring the festival back to the city where we won’t just be supporting the incredible cause of Worcester Community Trust, but the music scene as a whole, where many have been unable to play due to the pandemic.
He continued:
“Every year, we love listening to the vast array of artists who apply and love discovering the talent thriving in our local music scene and beyond. We really do encourage all artists to put themselves forwards for consideration.”
To date, the festival has supported 18 charities, raising over £60,000. In 2019, the festival donated £5,216.38 to the Worcester Foodbank, helping members of the local community access vital food and resources whilst in emergency.
