UNABASHED musicians from across the county are gearing up to bare all for a naked band calendar in aid of Worcester Music Festival and its chosen charities for 2013.

Everyone from a punk metal band to a classically-trained violinist are getting their kit off for the calendar – which will go on sale in July – with only their instruments to protect their modesty.

Full bands involved are The Whipjacks, The Stiff Joints, 11:11, Jasper In The Company Of Others and Calm Like A Riot, with John Noblet from Johnny Kowalski and the Sexy Weirdos and Ronin frontman Kit Kinrade also modelling their birthday suits for the rear-ly good cause.

Doing it for the girls will be violinist Zoe Bell, drummer Joby Hill, also known as Ladystix, from BSN [4:20], singer guitarist Sophia Liana from Psyflyer, singer songwriter Sally Haines and bassist Tonina Westgate from Hitchhiker and the aptly named Stripped Down Blues.

Siani Price, organiser and chief of promoters for Worcester Music Festival, said: “We got the idea from the whole Calendar Girls thing, but, with such an eclectic and eccentric line-up of amazing musicians involved, this is going to be something else. We even got a mention from Tom Robinson on his BBC 6 Music show last week. Now, we just need to drum up support for the project and encourage people to buy the calendar when it goes on sale in July.”

Proceeds from the calendar will be shared between Worcester Music Festival’s chosen charities for 2013 – Sight Concern Worcestershire and Worcester Deaf Children’s Society – and the festival itself, which takes places from August 30 – September 1 and is run completely by volunteers, relying on donations and fundraising to survive.

Applications to play at this year’s multi-venue festival closed on Tuesday (April 30), with a staggering 841 acts requesting a slot at the annual, free showcase of live, original music.

If you are interested in sponsoring one of the remaining five months of the calendar – which will run from September 2013 – August 2014 – for just £50, email sianidriver@gmail.com or call 07917 701257.
